WHAT WE ARE PLANTING
The trees and bushes that have been ordered are: the American Persimmon, the Scarlet Oak, the Pawpaw, and the Highbush Blueberry. Five of each are being planted in the area around SUNY Oneonta.
We're studying A.I. in the Arts and we've found that A.I. data centers are using a LOT of electricity and water. Over the past few years new data centers have been added at a rate of about one per week.
A large hyperscale data center generally operates in the range of 100 megawatts (MW) or more, with many modern facilities targeting 150 to over 300 MW to handle AI workloads (Source: International Energy Agency). This is clearly unsustainable, so in addition to raising awareness about A.I., we are planting trees this spring (2026).
